💼 Youth Business Fair
Open to students in 1st–7th grade
An opportunity for young entrepreneurs to build, launch, and run a small business in a real-world, open market setting.
Participants will work independently or in small groups to create and manage a business—selling a product, good, or service of their choosing. From concept to clean-up, students take ownership of every step of the process, building confidence, creativity, and real-life skills along the way.
🧩 What They’ll Do
- Develop a Business Idea
Create a product or service to sell, independently or in a small group. - Calculate Costs & Set Prices
Determine supplies needed, cost of goods, and appropriate pricing strategy. - Design Their Booth
Plan and create an outdoor shop space with signage, display elements, and pricing sheets. - Run Their Storefront
Operate their booth for 1–2 days of the open market event, handling customers, collecting money, and giving change. - Track Sales & Reflect
Complete a simple profit & loss spreadsheet and participate in a guided group debrief after the event.
👩👧 Support & Expectations
- Responsibilities should be age-appropriate. Younger students (1st–2nd grade) may need assistance handling money or calculating totals.
- Older students (3rd–5th and up) should manage their booths independently, with a parent present in the background for support.
- Parental presence is required during the event, but direct involvement should be minimal.
🛒 Logistics
- Fair takes place at Cactus Cup March 13-14, 2026. A weekend-long mountain bike festival with over 3000 people in attendance.

- All materials, supplies, set-up needs, and petty cash are the responsibility of each household.
- Students may bring their materials to the Collective to work on their projects during open space time.
